An author of many articles for national hunting magazines over the years, in his book Bernard has written about hunting experiences in Montana, Idaho, British Columbia, New Mexico, Alaska, Quebec, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, as well as his native Oregon. His book includes 27 chapters and 75 photographs of himself and others who shared the hunting experiences with him. Duane and his wife, have four children, all of whom also hunt.
