Blacktail Cave and Bear Stories

Blacktail Cave and Bear Stories
The amazing story of how five boys discovered a cave near Wolf Creek, Montana, that holds scientifically-documented evidence of prehistoric human and animal life in Montana. Written by long-time Montana rancher and outfitter Tag Rittel of Wolf Creek, on whose ranch the cave is located, the book explains how he and four other boys discovered the cave in 1946 and what has happened subsequently with the cave in regard to several university-based studies on the contents of the cave and its historical significance. Labeled a "Prehistoric Montana Gem" by one observer, scientists have documented human existence in the cave to 10,000 to 11,500 years ago and found prehistoric bear and musk oxen skulls in the cave that date back to 12,000 years ago. In addition, hundreds of remains of a variety of animals described in the book have also been found in the cave and its immediate surrounding. Issued in 6x9-inch softcover, 124 pages, containing many black and white photographs, as well as an eight page section of color photographs. ISBN: 978-1-938707-16-2 Blacktail Cave and Bear Stories -- $14.95
