Lolo Creek Reflections

Lolo Creek Reflections

The historic Montana book “Lolo Creek Reflections” that was first issued more than 25 years ago and which has been out of print for a number of years is once again available in a brand new softcover edition with a beautiful photograph of the stream adorning the cover.

The reissuance of the book, which tells the early-day story of the Lolo Creek area in western Montana was made by the Lolo Woman's Club in cooperation with Stoneydale Press Publishing Co. of Stevensville, Montana, in response to many requests that it be made available to a general audience. The book features the early history and settlement of the Lolo area, which is at the crossroads of a number of important travel routes both preceding and following settlement of the area by non-Indian peoples.

The new book is a replica reprint of the earlier edition, meaning its interior contents are identical to those of the first edition. Its contents feature many early-day stories and photographs involving the Lolo area. Chapters cover such historic topics as the creation of Lolo, the time before the white man came including the Lewis & Clark Expedition's two visits to the area, settlement since, the prospectors and mountain men, the Fort Fizzle incident, the Salish, transportation, schools, churches, sawmills, the Forest Service, spotted tick fever, the railroad wars, moonshining, Lolo Hot Springs, and the Fish Creek story, among others. Lolo Creek Reflections contains 120 pages and was issued in 8½ by 11-inch size with a film laminated softcover featuring a beautiful photograph taken by Jeanne O'Neill of Stevensville.
