The Mouse Story

The Mouse Story
A family of mice living in Grandma Georgie’s attic are struck by potential disaster when the youngest of the clan, baby Ebenezer, becomes gravely ill and can only be saved if the mouse family can get some special South African kwaito cheese. It befalls to the eldest son, Benjamin Mouse, a resourceful lad, to find some. His adventures in going beyond the boundaries of what he’s known in his up-to-now secure life to find the life-saving kwaito cheese and bringing it back to their home in Grandma Georgie’s attic put him in imminent danger. He encounters, in his quest to find the cheese, strange surroundings where new threats arise – from humans, some alike and some different from people he’s been around, from cats, from other things he’d never encountered before. In the process, Benjamin gets help from strange and different people – actually a student in the nearby university’s International House who happens to be from South Africa, where kwaito cheese comes from – and he learns that people who seem different from what you’ve known can be good and sensitive to other’s needs – like, for instance, a mouse needing kwaito cheese to save his young brother’s life. A heartwarming mouse tale with a strong moral dimension that children will love, richly illustrated throughout by Lawrence J. Riitano and told in the warm and loving tone of a grandmother who knows. Issued in 8½ by 11-inch softcover format, 36 pages.
