Fred Scott obviously is a very good, experienced hunter. Although he shoots some impressive deer and elk, he is really a meat hunter who takes great care of his game meat. His descriptions of roads, creeks, mountains etc. are very detailed and it helps to have a map handy to keep track of where he is hunting.
The camp life, food, and occasional drink, are all important to the hunt as well as good friends and relatives. Fred Scott "gets it."
I enjoyed his book and his simple tales of his hunts, both successful and not. He wounds like a guy who would be a kick to hunt with and he really knows how to do it, not just talk about it.
I also liked the fact that he usually used a dot reticle in his scopes which I also use and think is hard to beat in a big game rifle.
I did wonder what type of saw or hatchet he used to cut up his animals because he obviously was good at it and did it in a hurry.
Good read for real hunters and not just those "counting points." Bob Dayton
